SEO best Tools blog
Which SEO tools are worth using?
Short answer: start with the free official tools, Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, then add a paid suite only when you have a specific question they cannot answer.
- Google Search Console (free). Shows which queries and pages get impressions and clicks, indexing problems and sitemap status. Data comes straight from Google. Best first tool for any site owner.
- Bing Webmaster Tools (free). Similar reports for Bing, plus easy import of your Search Console sites.
- Google Analytics (free). Visitor behavior on your site. It does not show keyword rankings by itself.
- Screaming Frog SEO Spider. A desktop crawler that finds broken links, missing titles and redirect chains. Good for technical audits. It has a free tier with a URL limit.
- Ahrefs and Semrush. Large paid suites for keyword research, competitor links and rank tracking. Powerful, and usually overkill for a small site.
- Yoast SEO or Rank Math (WordPress plugins). Help you write titles, descriptions and sitemaps inside WordPress.
- Free browser tools like the ones on this site. Good for one-off jobs: a meta tag, a sitemap, a schema snippet or an image resize.
Check each vendor site for current plans and limits, since these change often. We have no affiliate link to any of them.

Start with the basics
Search engines need three things from every page: a clear title, a short description, and a way to find it. Write a unique title under about 60 characters and a description under about 160. Use the meta tag generator and check how it will look in the SERP snippet preview.
Help crawlers find your pages
List your pages in a sitemap and tell crawlers what to skip. Try the XML sitemap generator and the robots.txt generator. If two URLs show the same content, point them to one with a canonical tag.
Make shared links look good
Add Open Graph and Twitter card tags so links show an image and title when shared.
Add structured data
Use the schema markup generator and the FAQ page generator to describe your content in a machine readable way.
Keep images light
Large images slow pages down. Resize and convert them with the image optimization tool or the JPG compressor.
